Spicy Chocolate Orange Pots or "Piropos in a Cup"

Rich, gooey, sweet and spicy… in that order. Making you blush after you indulge in the first spoonful.

Mimicking the piropo’s brevity, these decadent desserts must be served in small portions because they can pack a punch and yes, be offensive…very offensive.

Here are a few examples of what you might overhear near a construction site anywhere in Latin America…

–“Desearía ser una lágrima tuya… Para nacer en tus ojos, Vivir en tus mejillas, Y morir en tus labios.”

“I wish I were one of your tears … To be born in your eyes, living on your cheeks, and dying on your lips.”

“- Was it painful?

-Your fall from Heaven “

–“Si Adán por Eva se comió una manzana, yo por ti me comería una frutería.”

“If Adam ate an apple for Eve, I would eat an entire fruit stand for you.”

–“Hoy dormirás con los ángeles y soñarás conmigo pero un día dormirás conmigo y soñarás con los ángeles”.

“Today you will sleep with the angels and dream about me but one day you will sleep with me and dream about angels.”

–“Cuando mires las estrellas acuerdate de mi,
en cada una de ellas, hay un beso para ti”.

“When you look at the stars, remember me,

in each, there is a kiss for you from me. “

Spicy Chocolate Orange Pots

Ingredients

1 orange
4-1/2 oz. semisweet chocolate
2 tbsp unsalted butter
3 tbsp maple syrup
1 tbsp orange liqueur
1/3 cup sour cream
1 medium serrano chile, diced
2/3 cup Almond Accents, honey roasted flavor
1 cup whipped cream
1 tbsp orange zest (strips)

Instructions

Cut the peel and pith from the orange. Catch the juices in a bowl and cut orange flesh in small chunks.Put chocolate, butter, diced chile, maple syrup, and liqueur in a small pan with the reserved orange juices. Heat gently and stir until smooth.Stir in sour cream and orange chunks.Spoon the mixture into small ramekins or espresso cups, then top with a spoonful of whipped cream.Sprinkle orange zest and Almond Accents over the top to serve.

Ingredients

1 naranja
4-1/2 oz. chocolate semidulce
2 cucharadas mantequilla sin sal
3 cucharadas jarabe de arce
1 cucharada licor de naranja
2/3 taza crema agria
1 mediano chile serrano, picado
2/3 taza Almond Accents, sabor a miel tostada
1 taza crema batida
1 cucharada ralladura de naranja

Instructions

Corta la cáscara y la médula de la naranja. Reserva el jugo en un recipiente y corte la naranja en el pedazos chicos.Ponga el chocolate, la mantequilla, chile, jarabe de arce, y el licor en una cacerola pequeña con el jugo de naranja reservado. Caliente suavemente y revuelva hasta que quede suave. Incorpore la crema agria y pedazos de naranja. Sirva la mezcla en moldes pequeños o tazas de café expreso, luego cubra con una cucharada de crema batida. Para servir, espolvoree la ralladura de naranja y Almond Accents.
