One of my favorite seasons is here. Hatch Chile! Named after the original growing area, Hatch, New Mexico, these long-awaited chiles are all the rage this time of the year. Hatch fans (myself included) are known to store 30-40 pounds of this treasure in their freezers. Since they store well, they can be stored in small batches and used throughout the year in your salsas, stews or can be stuffed with cheese for delicious chiles rellenos.
If you’re located in the Los Angeles area, Bristol Farms and Melissa’s Produce will be having a massive Hatch Chile roast in the next few weeks. For those of you that like to roast and store your chile for later use this can be a great time saver. Following are the roasting dates. Don’t miss out!
Although they will be roasting in four locations only, product will be available in all stores starting August 18, 2011 or you can find them at Melissa’s Produce website .

Una de mis temporadas favoritas ha llegado. La temporada del Chile Hatch de Nuevo Mexico! Su nombre previene del área de cultivo original, Hatch, Nuevo México, estos chiles tan esperados son muy codiciados. Los fans del Hatch (yo incluida) almacenan 30-40 libras de este tesoro en sus congeladores. Debido a que se almacenan bien, se pueden guardar en pequeños lotes y se utiliza durante todo el año en salsas, estofados o se pueden rellenar con queso. Si estas en el area de Los Angeles, Bristol Farms y Melissa’s Produce tendrán un gran evento dedicado al asado de Hatch Chile en las próximas semanas. Para aquellos de ustedes que les gusta asar y guardar su Chile para su uso posterior este puede ser un gran ahorro de tiempo. Las siguientes son las fechas para asar. No te lo pierdas!
