If only all Mondays were like this…

You MUST go on a Monday to The Lazy Ox Canteen.  1) No reservations were required.  We walked right in and got seated. Ice water poured in our glasses, salted soy nuts on our table and menus in front of us in a matter of nanoseconds.  2) Mondays are half price wine bottle nights! Let’s just say we had the financial capability to order something fancy shmancy that we would normally “pffttt!” at once we saw the price 3) The food was amazingly delicious!  Chef Jose Centeno really knows his stuff.

I do have one regret…I’ve heard their rice pudding is “heavenly” and I am now kicking myself for not ordering it for dessert.  But there’s always next Monday.

Barbera d’Alba Francesco Rinaldi Figli ’07 Italy
(Rustic flavor.  Black cherries, dark chocolate, black tea…seamless taste)
Fried Squash Blossoms with Prosciutto, Ricotta and honey drizzle (dangerously addicting!)
Grilled marinated hen with za’atar, pine nuts, chile and lebni

Monday night “special” Lamb Top Round
Chocolate Torchon with pecan praline, olive oil and fleur de sel and French pressed coffee.
